August 18: Sue’s Retirement & Others’ Graduation Party

We spent the morning participating in different classes and activities around camp. Mike started pulling some groups for creative writing sessions, some made art, and others made empanadas with Jojo!

After lunch, we spent the afternoon down at the lake and took advantage of the many kayaks, canoes and paddleboards!

Then we all hit the costume cabin and showers, and got all gussied up for the Gala. Sue retired this year after 31 years of public service, and many community members graduated from high school and college, so tonight was dedicated to celebrating them! We started the evening with a cocktail hour at the picnic tables and celebration ceremony.

Then we headed inside to the Gala-seum for an elegant dinner. Our kitchen team worked hard on an amazing Greek-inspired dinner, and we had community members dress up with bow-ties and act as servers for the full restaurant experience.

After an exquisite dinner, we went up to the tennis courts and danced the night away! It was a perfect chilly evening, allowing us all to give it our all on the dance floor, without having to immediately hit the showers afterwards.
